Let’s #EmbraceEquity: Celebrating International Women’s Day 2023

Fullers Fulfilment

On 8th March, all across the world people will celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD). For 2023, the theme is #EmbraceEquity.

The International Women’s Day campaign asks everyone to:

“Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

“Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all embrace equity. Celebrate women's achievement. Raise awareness about discrimination. Take action to drive gender parity. IWD belongs to everyone, everywhere.

“Forging gender equity isn't limited to women solely fighting the good fight. Allies are incredibly important for the social, economic, cultural, and political advancement of women.”

Fullers Fulfilment embraces equity

Here at Fullers Fulfilment, we are allies. We create a culture of gender equity – and of empowerment. There’s a positive ‘can-do’ atmosphere that seeks to unlock our employees’ greatest potential, without gender bias.

To us, the notion that fulfilment and logistics is a male-dominated industry is ancient history. Women now occupy 41% of the supply chain workforce. That includes 33% of first line manager and supervisory roles.

Stories of women in fulfilment

In celebration of IWD 2023, we’re shining a spotlight on some of the women who work at Fullers. Their experiences prove our inclusive approach to recruitment and the professional development of all who work here…

Agata Wojtasik, Customer Services Manager

“Over the years, I have been given the chance to work in lots of different areas of the business - including warehousing, palletising, fulfilment and transport - as well as in the office. There are so many facets to fulfilment jobs, from driving a forklift truck to packing luxury goods in bespoke packaging - and everything in between.”

“The culture at Fullers is one of opportunity and progress. Every member of staff is encouraged to develop and achievement is recognised and rewarded. The validation you receive here gives you the confidence to strive for your goals.

“A career in the fulfilment industry is rich and varied and it can only be positive news that more women are joining this growing sector.”

Nagore Casado A., Administration Manager

“Through my work as a Project Co-ordinator for Fullers’ BMW fulfilment service, my managers recognised my potential and enthusiasm to add value to the business. My fulfilment career gained momentum with a move to the head office as Logistics Assistant Executive and then became an Administration Manager.”

“Fullers Fulfilment has operated the business within the framework of the Business Conduct and Ethical Code Policy for many years, and it is reviewed annually. It champions equal opportunities and makes sure that every person is treated with respect, equity and fairness regardless of race, religion, gender, ability, age or national origin.

“There are fantastic female role models here at Fullers and I have had ample opportunity to learn, develop and get promoted.”

Lilla Horvath, Fulfilment Services Analyst

“My fulfilment career at Fullers began as a temporary member of staff in the admin team, helping to open our site in Bordon, Hampshire. Since then, I’ve held roles as an Outbound Co-ordinator, Supervisor, and supporting senior managers.

“All that experience has given me a bird’s eye view of how different areas of the business sync together and allowed me to build insight and relationships. My current role of Fulfilment Services Analyst gives me the chance to show my extensive knowledge of our processes and systems.

“As your skills develop here, it will get noticed and you will be given more opportunities to shine and thrive. Tony Dempsey, Divisional Managing Director at Fullers Fulfilment, has championed me from day one and I have received so much support from others in the company as I’ve progressed.

“More women should join the fulfilment industry to see for themselves how many wonderful opportunities it offers.”

Monika Kocur, Warehouse Operative

“Since I came to the UK 10 years ago, I have worked in the hospitality and cleaning sectors, but it’s fulfilment and logistics where I have truly found my passion and where I’ve been given the opportunity to learn and grow.

“The team is so friendly and encouraging and I love all the different aspects of my job and getting to work with leading brands such as Mars Petcare. I recently had the chance to get my forklift truck driving licence and couldn’t wait to add that to my skill set.”

“There are plenty of routes to progress within Fullers and I aspire to continue my training so that I can become a team leader one day.”

Embracing equity across the world

Fullers Fulfilment strives to create positive change, not just at our fulfilment hubs in Hampshire, Berkshire and The Midlands, but across the world. The B1G1 (Business for Good) initiative allows us to give to a variety of vetted, high-impact projects that support people, communities and the planet.

These projects are aligned with 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by The United Nations. They focus on reducing inequalities as well many other causes that matter to all of us as global citizens.

Among other projects, we have donated sewing machines to female entrepreneurs in Bangladesh, helped provide business training for impoverished women living in Malawi, as well as book keeping training to women in Zambia.

Fullers embraces equity to help drive success - for all.
